    3. Hi Bill, You've made a mistake on Samuel's marriage date to Mary Staton - only 3 years after Samuel's birth - but surely the marriage certificate would give more details. I don't know what US marriage certificates contain, but in Aus they have your birthdate, where born, names of both parents, their occupation, and how long you have resided in the country. Death certificates have the same questions, but you have to realize that the information is only what the informant is aware of, and often these details can be quite misleading. 2. Jim, I have been posting specific information regarding my ancestors for 3 or 4 years. John C Gordon, son of Charles Gordon and Mary Concannon, was baptized on Feb 20, 1887 at the parish church of Kiltullagh, county Roscommon. His baptismal certificate was given at Ballinlough. I do not know how I can be more specific. Perhaps you might suggest something. Thanks, Tom

    3. I too, am looking for a George Gordon, that is my brickwall. Here is what I know: He died at Fort Hawkins, GA. around 1811 - 1813. His wife was Polly Hughes, whose brother was James Hughes. Polly and George had a son, Alexander Curry (A.C.)Gordon, born September 28, 1811. A.C. was orphaned (at least his father died), and moved from Georgia to Alabama territory with his Uncle James Hughes around 1817 or so. They settled in what became Henry County, Alabama near the settlement of Franklin. Alexander Curry Gordon was my ggggrandfather and I have much info about him and descendants. But his father, George, and his mother, Polly Hughes are my big, big, big brickwall. Some sources list Washington County, Georgia as their birthplaces and birthdates around 1791 and 1795, respectively. That is all I know about them. Would love to find more about their families. Does this match up with anybody? Thanks, Sally Sinclair
