I know that I should check it before sending messages, but sometimes I forget. Mea culpa. 2. I, too, am looking for information on the parents and any possible siblings of my gr grandfather, Joseph Henry Gordon, b 1837 in Canada East. Their names are (parents, that is) John and Elizabeth Gordon. Joseph Henry settled in Worcester coming by way of Vermont, and married there (Worcester) in 1862 to a Sarah Fontaine (aka Spring). If there were any brothers and sisters, it is possible that they scattered to various parts of the country. If I knew exactly where in Canada East he was born, I might be able to find more information. Elaine

    3. I realize the it's truly difficult to trace names that repreat over and over again from one generation to another...it's not often, however, that you find the same exact name w/ approx. date of birth....I, too, am searching for my gggrandfather GEORGE ALEXANDER GORDON! What do you have for siblings...perhaps this one married more than once and he could be mine as well. Have some information that led me to thinking his origin could have been through Canada rather than through the southern links.... What else do you have for Georgie Boy? lol Lyn -----Original Message----- From: Margaret McCleskey <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Thursday, July 01, 1999 7:02 PM Subject: Re: My ancestors Colin, Please tell me more about your family. 3. Ethel, As far as I know my 1850s Gordons only passed through Louisiana on their way to Texas. Only two children from that family survived to make the move. I suspect that the other five and their mother died as a result of the yellow fever epidemic which I understand took place in Mississippi about that time. My g-g-grandfather was in Cherokee Co., TX by 1857 when he remarried. Margaret Ethel S. wrote: > > Could some of those 1850 Gordons have come into Louisiana?
