Friends, I have decided to come clean in public: I am a Gordon imposter! It has been a long, lonely life, filled with sick longings that I were a true Gordon, not just the phony it has been my fate to be. What I wouldn't give for a drop of real Gordon blood to course my veins, for a Gordon thought to flit across my inner scape, for a tartan cloth to call my own. Ah me, wretch that I have been. Can anyone forgive such a life gone so wrong? Pity, pity and more pity is my want. I am but a dog among men. It all began when I met my first Gordons. They were so intelligent, virile, good looking, compassionate, prescient, wise. Who could not have wanted to be like them, to be them? It will be a long, expensive road to recovery. I have established a fund to aid those of us who suffer from the faux Gordon syndrome. Please send your contributions to Gordon Imposters Anonymous, Huntley, Scotland. God bless all true Gordons. Let all Gordon imposters repent immediately and join those of us now in recovery. There is hope. There is a future. There are the McDonalds for one thing.
There is some evidence and a strong case that the Stone of Scone is actually the stone on which Jacob slept when he dreamed as portrayed in the Old Testament. The method of arriving in Scotland is not as unlikely as it may sound. Possibly, that same methodology would explain the Lost Tribes theory. Or, a lot of wistful thinking. >I was reading a book a while ago that stated that it is believed that the >Tartans of Scotland could have come about from the Twelve Tribes of Israel. >They used various colors to identify that they belonged to a certain Tribe. >They would carry these ahead of them when they went into battle. I was reading a book a while ago that stated that it is believed that the Tartans of Scotland could have come about from the Twelve Tribes of Israel. They used various colors to identify that they belonged to a certain Tribe. They would carry these ahead of them when they went into battle. There is also a book out that believes that the unaccounted for Tribes of Israel ended up in Scotland. I don't know how much credibility we can accord these various stories, but they do give rise to thought. The Tartans had to start sometime from some concept. Remember Joseph's Coat of Many Colors? Who Knows ????

Would one of these nathaniels be yours? Since you live in Anderson do you know anything about the Harrison family there or do you know anything about the Norris family in Honea Path? Harold Harrison
It has been a while since I posted this and since there seem to be new members I will try again. I am looking for the parents of George Alexander Gordon who was born 4 November 1822 somewhere in Georgia. He married Margaret Adeline Gray, d/o Alexander Gray III and Susannah Vanderbilt, 26 October 1843 probably in Mississippi. They were in Scott Co., Mississippi in 1850. By 1856 Margaret and 6 of their 8 children were dead. George and the two surviving children moved to Cherokee Co., Texas before George remarried there in 1857. George later moved to Bosque Co., TX where he died 12 March 1884. Children by Margaret were: Charles Alexander, Caroline Malinda, James W., John T., Franklin P., Frances M., Joseph P., and George H. Charles and Caroline were the only two to make the move to Texas. Children by the second wife were: Cynthia E., Amanda Elizabeth, Mary A., Martha and William B. Charles Alexander Gordon was my g-grandfather. He married first, Lucy Gill and had George Mills Gordon (born in Cherokee Co.. He married Amanda Elizabeth Heflin second and had: James Gray, an infant daughter who was probably still born, Daniel Edward, Mittie Ethell, Mary Adaline, John Morgan, an infant son who was probably stillborn, Martha Louera, William David, Frances Ruth and Charles Wesley (all born in Bosque Co). John Morgan Gordon was my grandfather. Margaret McCleskey, Arlington, TX

This message is for Dr. Jim (James Gordon) at Shentel.net Jim: We enjoyed the opportunity to meet you and other Gordons at the Highland Games on Saturday. We appreciated the Hospitality Tent and the friendship of those hosting the House of Gordon tent. It's too bad the weather did not cooperate fully on Sunday but we stayed until the conclusion of the Parade of Tartans and the massed pipe band marching around the track. What a wonderful memory hearing the bagpipes echoing through the meadow. I am sure we will hear from Earl Gordon here in South Carolina soon. Thanks for introducing him to us. Looking forward to future visits. Estelle (and Bill) Gordon Greenville, SC
