    3. Would anyone have a William B. Gordon in their line who, according to census, was born abt. 1801 in NC? Was in Rhea Co. , TN (east TN) by early 1820s. In area also, was a John Gordon and a George Gordon, but do not know of any connection at this time. William B. Gordon married Margaret Rogers, daughter of James and Anna Blair Rogers in 1824 in Rhea Co., TN. They had possibly 3 children, but only know of Jane who married W.S. Gilliam in Rhea Co. and Eleanor who married Hardin Otha Green. All of these families are in Overton Co., TN by 1850. Putnam Co., TN is then created partly from Overton and they are in Putnam Co., TN by 1860. William B. and Margaret are dead by early to mid 1870s in Putnam Co., TN. Would appreciate any clues as to what NC Gordon family this William B. Gordon may have come from. Thanks, Greg

    3. There is some evidence and a strong case that the Stone of Scone is actually the stone on which Jacob slept when he dreamed as portrayed in the Old Testament. The method of arriving in Scotland is not as unlikely as it may sound. Possibly, that same methodology would explain the Lost Tribes theory. Or, a lot of wistful thinking. >I was reading a book a while ago that stated that it is believed that the >Tartans of Scotland could have come about from the Twelve Tribes of Israel. >They used various colors to identify that they belonged to a certain Tribe. >They would carry these ahead of them when they went into battle. 2. Hello Cousin Fred, It's so nice to hear from you. David Marion Gordon was my great-grandfather. His youngest child, Cora Lewis Gordon Abernathy was my wonderful grandmother. She moved to Texas with her husband and children. They lived in Austin. Later one daughter moved to San Antonio and her son moved to the Houston area. Where in Texas are you? And as my Aunt Floye was quick to ask, who are your parents? Thank you for David Marion's enlistment info.Would company A, Ward's Battery have been part of the 11th Alabama Art.? Do you have any knowledge of David Marion's imprisonment in Nashville? Please tell me what your interest along these lines are. Let's see if we can exchange and or confirm info. It is so grand to find you. Please write soon. Your cousin, Trish

    3. Hi Cheryl Nice to have a chance to talk to you. Let me see, how can we help each other. What I know about Ruby is that she married Everett Faulkner (does that match you?) Ruby died in Oct 1948 and is buried at Maple Hill Cemetery in Kansas City, KS. Family lore says that she married a Charlie Mathews(Matthews) 1st and Everett Faulkner 2nd. (does that match?) Faulkner has been spelled "Faulkner and Faulconer" Do you have marriage info on Bessie? Who (if you don't mind me asking) was your father? Keep in touch, Interesting how close these names are. I got mine from a family/bible page. Let me know whatch think. -----Original Message----- From: Cheryl Lewis <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Friday, July 16, 1999 3:45 PM Subject: Re: My Gordon Line >Kathy in California - - I don't think we have a match on our GORDONs but >you have so many names that match the names in my family that I thought I >would write to you anyway.
