    3. Hi Tom, Thanks for your reply I've bookmarked the url and I'm subbed to the Gordon, McDonald and McElhone lists. I'm also in contact with the US Hillins and the lovely lady who used to run the Mulgrew Newsletter. I've learned so much from the UK county lists - too numerous to mention, and met some lovely helpful people, but haven't made any definite connections yet. I'm stuck at my greatgrandparents stage in the 1800s solely in the UK. Thanks again, Catherine in Yorkshire GORDON/MCILHONE/MCDONALD/MCDONNELL/HILLIN/MULGREW. 1. GORDON/MCILHONE/MCDONALD SCO, IRE, 1800s

    3. Hello everyone, This is my first posting and I am very new to family research. Just this week I've found my ggmother: Catherine GORDON - no dates. She maried Daniel MCILHONE - no dates. They had a son Joseph MCILHONE b 1880 who married Mary (Minnie) MCDONALD b 1881. They had a son Joseph MCILHONE b 1904 who married Mary HILLIN b 1897 in Glasgow. Mary's parents were James HILLIN & Catherine MCDONALD married in Belfast 1885. James' mother was Mary MULGREW his father was James. I have yet to find Catherine MCDONALDs mother but her father was James. In trying to be brief I hope I haven't caused confusion. I would be most grateful for any help in finding my GORDON ancestors. Best regards, Catherine (wheelchair user) in Yorkshire

    3. Hi folks! I just want to let you know that the Gordon Genealogy site has moved to a new home. My daughter-in-law has kindly decided to help me maintain this site. 2. Here is an update of the rather scarce information that I have and I am in need of assistance: My Grandfather: John C. Gordon, b. Feb 1887 and baptized on Feb 20, 1887 at Kiltullagh. His parents were Charles Gordon and Mary Concannon. The sponsors at the baptism were Thomas Gordon and Bridget Gordon. He lived in Ballinlough (I believe). There is a cousin who lives in Ballinlough named Ann Gordon Duffy. Also, there is a cousin, Mary and Jack Heneghan in Shrule. Tom Boston, MA

    2. Does anyone have info on Mary M. (Magdalene?) or Molly, wife of John Gordon. Mary died Sept 18, 1857, age 88 years, and is buried in Lee Cemetery, Amanda Twp., HancockCo, Ohio. She was born in PA, and her maiden name was probably Platner. Thanks, Marilyn (Gordon) Jones [email protected]

I was not able to save the system but was able to retrieve most of my data and transfer it to my NEW, WONDERFUL, GLOROUS system before the old one bit the dust. I will not go over all the wonderful messages you sent me and get back with you. Kathleen Burnett

    3. Kathleen, I have a file on this family based on my research of publications. I made no claims as to the accuracy of the information. Some time ago, I offered to send a gedcom to anyone who requested it. I am still willing to do that. According to my records, John married Sarah Roy, Elizabeth's sister, after Elizabeth died. You list an Alexander as a child of Elizabeth Roy and John Gordon. Was he the Alexander Gordon who married Susannah Terrill and had a daughter named Frances Roy Gordon who married Hawkins Bullock? 3. Joann, I have a William D. GORDON in Graves County, KY. Born: 28 Apr 1840 TN, died 17 July 1922, buried Rhodes Cemetery (Graves Co.,KY), married Sarah J. "Sallie" WIGGINS, in 1863, Sallie was born: 16 Feb 1842 Graves Co., KY, died 28 Mar 1915, buried Rhodes Cemetery also. They had the following children: 1. Robert Alan "Bob" GORDON (1865) m/Sarah RHODES 2. Ophelia Ann "Polly" GORDON (1866) m/Thomas C. "Tom" CALDWELL 3. T.M. GORDON (1870)(died at 9 yrs. old) 4. Hettie (J. orG.) GORDON (1872) m/J.R. ALDERDICE Their firstborn, Robert, was my husband's great grandfather. His son, William Frank GORDON (1888-1953), was his grandfather, and William Alfred GORDON (1917-1975), was his father. I have additional information on all of the names I have mentioned, if they are of interest to anyone. They only names that I recognize, in your post, are William and John, although I know of no connection to yours and mine. I haven't been able to get back any further than William D., at this point. However, I am led to believe that William D.'s father was also named William and was from South Carolina, by way of Tennessee, but I have no further information on that. I believe I saw evidence of this in a will in Graves County, KY, but have misplaced my documentation. Since you were inquiring about William GORDON in KY, I thought that I should respond..........you never know! If anyone if familiar with any of the names that I have mentioned, I would love to hear from you!! Good Luck! 3. ALL very true! You'd think though that in that early time,in such a small population base that ANYONE with the name Gordon within 500 miles would be related! This gets so frustrating sometimes! As you say, even with the Septs, all those with the name Adams are not related.....and again, the population base of the time of the Clans was not large. You should hear me trying to explain all this to people wanting to know WHY they are not related to the other Adams' if they are in the same sept in the same clan. It is good to touch base with you again. I see your messages all the time, but don't want to bother you just to say hi. The story of how they lost their property has been written about by numerous authors! You probably as Qld'er know all about it. 3. Joann, It has been a very long time since you and I have talked and whatever you'd have to say on the matter I would certainly take to the bank. What I was trying to explain was, that even in the early days (1700's) of Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee and North Carolina, just because someone would have the last name of GORDON didn't mean they were related by blood. A clan's name was little different than that of being called Apache, Creek, American, etc. Do you agree? AND...... even Septs weren't always related to one another. Making my point that even you and I, being descendants of Gordon's, are not necessarily related. Although I'd love to be related to you. *S* Ric P.S. I also have several TAYLOR's that I'm related to that are listed in my database.
