Hello everyone You will probably have seen the post from Wendy Archer on 16th March about a new trial service from the General Register Office. The Federation has now provided a proper announcement to members. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Births, Marriages & Deaths - Temporary bargains The General Register Office has announced another trial service to provide PDF copies of non-certificated records. It relates only to events that were registered in England & Wales which come in the following categories: · Births (1935-2006) · Marriages (1837-2010) · Deaths (1958-2006) The price is £8.00 each, which is only a modest saving on the fee of £9.25 for a certificate. The offer is open until 12 April or until 40,000 PDFs have been ordered, whichever is the earlier. You can see more details on the https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/Login.asp Francis Howcutt Vice Chairman, FFHS ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It now seems that you can order very recent birth and marriage records (can’t call them certificates because they are not certified). I am wondering whether any of the information is redacted, such as addresses etc. Or does the Data Protection Act not apply? Peter Copsey Your Federation Rep.
I have just received a marriage certificate for 1872 on the £8 trial service via E Mail. It took about 3 days and seems a good copy. However I tried to get two birth certificates again for 1874 and 1876 but was unable to access the £8 service so had to pay the full £9.25 Ann Burton On Mon, 20 Mar 2017 at 17:18, Peter Copsey <peter.copsey@talktalk.net> wrote: > Hello everyone > > You will probably have seen the post from Wendy Archer on 16th March about > a > new trial service from the General Register Office.
