I have just post this on the Guild's Web Forum *Progress on Guild Indexes* Since I posted the subject of Inferred Marriage Partners on the Guild Web Forum there have been several developments and completed IMP files are beginning to be emailed to me and uploaded to the GMI successfully. The following additions have been added to the Guild Indexes: ·Anne Shankland has now added an extra search field on the GMI name search: "Return only entries added or updated since - " with select boxes for day/month/year.This does what you would expect, and filters the search results so that you only get entries with an update flag greater than the date specified. You can't go back further than 2015, though, as that's when the GMI became a database and got an update field. ·Anne Shankland has also added the "search for entries added/updated since xx/xx/xx" facility to ALL the GMI searches. ·The "search for entries added/updated since xx/xx/xx" facility has also been added for all the BMD-Vault search. ·The "search for entries added/updated since xx/xx/xx" facility has also been added to the Worldwide Marriages search as well. ·The Worldwide Marriages now includes the facility to allow searching for your "own" entries. *Online indexing form* It has been suggested that an on-line indexing form is needed for the GMI. That way when a member identifies a marriage they can enter it on the form along with the inferred marriage. This has been added to the list of tasks Anne Shankland will be working on in the future. The facility will be similar to the on-line indexing forms available for the BMD Vault and will including a checking facility to make sure the entry is not a duplicate and that an IMP entry does not already exist for the specified year, quarter, volume and page. *Other sources for Marriages* It has been suggested that there are other sources for Marriages that could be used for the GMI, including the Guild’s Website project and the Family Search Initiative. However, I have found that there are different ways in which the data is held (i.e. spreadsheets, PDF, word documents etc.) which impacts on how the data could be uploaded to the GMI.In particular, I have experienced difficulties in extracting data from PDFs without undertaking a lot of extra work.I would be interested in other members experience with extracting marriage data.
