That is certainly correct - it happened to me. A rather formal affair which was part of Commanding Officers Orders. A very spit and polish occasion. There seems to have been two points to this formal interview. One, to ascertain that it was not just some camp follower you were after, and that you had a serious intention of supporting her when you were discharged. The other, and more importantly, was that the new wife was going to become partly the responsibility of the MOD who would be supporting her financially whilst you were still in uniform. And if you ended up being shot she would get a pension. Not sure if we were expected to invite the CO to the wedding, but if so the Brigadier missed out on that one. Peter Amsden
