Hi All, Many thanks to Maria BYATT for pointing me in the right direction which gave me the indexed marriage that I wanted, viz. James MINGAY & E.Griffiths, 1905, New York. Had hoped that the grooms name was going to be James Bloomfield MINGAY but no luck. Just in case you are wondering whats going on:- a James MINGAY was baptised in 1773 at Great Welnetham, Suffolk, England whose mother was Mary MINGAY, it is stated that he was bb but the father is quoted (by oath/sworn statement)to be a George BLOOMFIELD, furthermore there is a marriage allegation made by George BLOOMFIELD & Mary MINGAY in 1773 but so far that marriage has not been found. OK, now we move to New York, USA where we find that the aforementioned James MINGAY, married as above, and had children , Mary, 1807, James B,, 1818 & William H., 1821. (dates of the last two from census returns). James B.MINGAY has two sons Ellwod B. & James B.MINGAY, the frustrating thing about all of this that what the initial B stands for cannot be ascertained. 'Family rumour' has it to be Bloomfield, hence the search for detailed records in New York. I must say that I have found many records for Deaths/Obituaries/Graves/censuses and BUT NONE for births/baptisisms online for New York of any significance, which I find MOST frustrating, so until the right sort of detailed record is found, the B. will have stay B. Regards Tony Anthony John MINGAY, now in NZ once of Kent & Suffolk, England but still researching Worldwide the surname MINGAY & its variants. http://www.mingayhistory.co.uk.
