Some may be interested to know of my experience with a new toy - the IRIScan mouse. {Google} This has a 40x20mm scan window, and uses modern photo stitching software to recombine the images into a single file. The great advantage being that you can see the result in real time as the document in question is traversed. I would be interested to know of any other experiences. (and possibly for Marriage Challenges) This is what I commented to one of Dick Eastman's items on Scanners:- I have now received my IRIScan Mouse and it does seem to have some interesting potential. I did have a problem at first as, to work fully, it requires either 128MB of dedicated video memory or 384MB of shared video memory. For some reason my "mainframe" PC with Dual 1920x1080 screens did not meet this demand (and I am still trying to find out why). However my old Sony Laptop does meet this requirement and the scanner works a treat. It is most satisfying to see the required scan result appear dynamically as the area is traversed steadily: The screen view scales dynamically to fit the screen as the scanned area is increased. When scanning is stopped, the software jumps straight into an editing mode where the result can be cropped (and rotated if nec, but it is clever enough to put lines of text horizontally anyway). It is very comforting to be able to see exactly the scan result you want before saving the file. I have yet to see how practical this is in a record office environment: but the colour and contrast of the scan is superb.
