I've have also had some cases of this in this index. I wondered if it was a misunderstanding of the state codes MI and MN that had caused the errors. There is an entry for Grayce M Gummerson in the California Death Index for 11 July 1967. The Ancestry version says she was born in Michigan but the FamilySearch version has birthplace as Minnesota. All other details are the same. Census returns etc agree with the FamilySearch version of Minnesota. Has anyone else come across this, presumably the records were indexed separately by Ancestry and FamilySearch? I just wonder if other instances of Michigan in the Ancestry version might be Minnesota instead.
