I am involved in Adult Education and I find it interesting to use my experiences to suggest name variants. What interested me was how often vowel sounds got confused. I never expected it. Scotland's People has a free search which enables you to check for variations. I prefer to find my own using it rather than depend on the search options they built in. The th sound presents problems to clerks and learners, and I am interested in checking out fortons to see if they match into more conventional Thornton families. -----Original Message----- From: Fíona Tipplevia Sent: Sunday, November 23, 2014 6:14 PM To: Debbie Kennett ; goons@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [G] Puzzled? Like Debbie I accept some names that are not in my ONS variants list.
