    3. Neil, There is a very small number of Hartwells in the Irish Censuses of 1901 (1) and 1911 (5-ish). Transcriptions, with digitised images of the individual household returns, freely at http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/ In 1911 all bar 1 individual are English-born, so they may fit into your data somewhere. 3. Hi Neil, Census are not available in all countries so the next best is Directory's of one sort or another, for example phone directory's another source is Voting rolls. There are some Hartwells here in New Zealand based on a quick search of the Whitepages Telephone directories; http://whitepages.co.nz/white-all/hartwell/new-zealand/ Ancestry.com will have a number of Voting rolls for New Zealand as well so you ought to be able to piece some of the families together however this is dependent on if the children of the couple are still home at the age they can vote. Other than that you could look at the Births, Marriages and Deaths index's with in the time restrictions imposed online at https://bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.govt.nz/Home/ Plus also check for any probated wills at http://archway.archives.govt.nz/ there are 121 individual records (items) indexed. As for Australia that would require a similar approach however that would need to be State by State as far as I am aware. A person who has done far more research in Australia would be better placed to give detailed research approaches. Regards, David J Grimshaw (or is it Grimason?)
