If you'd like to search newspapers yourself, you can go to www.legacy.com, which claims you can search from millions of obits from more than 1,500 newspapers worldwide. I can only find the following countries: Australia, the Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada, England, New Zealand, N. Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Scotland and U.S. You can search all records, countries or regions at one time for the last 24 hrs up to all records. And you can search using first and last name or just surname. I believe the coverage for UK is poor. I tried Smith obituaries for any county within the last 2 weeks and there were only two hits, both for the same person. Better results are to be expected from the Guild's Newswatch Project. But the Legacy site is excellent for USA and Canada obituaries.
