It might be that he was rejected after his first signing on (as unfit for military service??) and then re-applied and was accepted 2nd time. I've found several Horridge entries exactly like this. It might be that they improved in health or, just as likely, the army was getting less fussy as the war went on. Have you looked at the actual signing on papers ??
