I have noticed that some of the Probate Index pages are not in order - I was looking at Smith died 1994 and found that several pages with forenames beginning with later As and a few Bs were interspersed throughout the list and after the last forename initial, the list began again with Bs through to Ws.   I don't know if this was a one off name/year, but if you think you should be finding someone and they are not there, it might pay you to page through.   It would be Smiths wouldn't it - I eventually found him in 1995 - which does seem to be in order!!
