Hi One-Namers Everywhere A colleague of mine in the United States tells me Family Tree DNA is having a sale that goes through 31 December. All orders must be placed by 11:59 pm Central Standard Time, 31 December. The sale includes Y-DNA tests (37, 67 and 111 markers of which I >recommend 67 markers). It also includes Y-DNA upgrades from 12 markers >to 37, 67, and 111 markers; from 25 markers to 37, 67, and 111 markers; from 37 markers to 67 and 111 markers; and from 67 to 111 markers. If you have tested less than 67 markers, I recommend upgrading to 67 markers. In some cases, an upgrade to 111 markers can give more needed information. One example is those who are in the Niall of the Nine Hostages group (Haplogroup R-M222). Also in the sale is their autosomal DNA test (Family Finder) and their mtDNA Full Sequence test. Finally, on sale is an upgrade from mtDNA+ to mtDNA Full Sequence. Can anyone explain this for the simple-minded John P Laws LAWS FAMILY REGISTER
Great to know,John. I just did a currency conversion calculation, and I think (I could be wrong) that buying the Y-DNA 37 test through GOONS is still very slightly cheaper than the sale price, though of course thats only the 37 marker test, so the other sale prices for other tests look really good. What I tend to do is offer UK folk a kit I have purchased via GOONS, and to avoid additional postage costs suggest that overseas folk buy during familytreeDNA sales. I do have one I need to consider an upgrade on though.
