Well you certainly find a lot of interesting types of file when you search for BOWES Martha I am very impressed with the scope of the information and the very professional set of guidelines and help files on AAD. I too was challenged at first to find the "Manifest Data Header File" But the key seems to be to look at the list of all files in a particular category.     3. Now I really do know that I need to study the GRAY name in Germany. I knew there were a significant number there, but looking at the AAD entries relating to the Immigration of Germans to the United States (1850 - 1897) I found 55 mentions of the name GRAY - most of which relate to people with that surname. Ireland (1846-1851) was less of a surprise, but then I noted three from Russia (1834-1897) - now where on earth did they spring from? Anyone know where the Russian BMDs can be found?
