    3. June, thanks for spotting those two typos and they have now been corrected. Captain John Smedley Benedict and Catherine Benedict, my great grandparents, were the ancestors that really launched my interest in genealogy. In the early days of recording the family records, I came across their marriage index in the LDS Family Room here in Calgary. Pulling the microfilm reel, I found their marriage record and commented to one of the library assistance on how now to find Catherine's maiden name. She informed me, it was also "Benedict". How coincidental was that ?!? Okay, they turned out to be first cousins. And my great aunt Minnie, their first child, showed up a bit premature, by six months. Must have been that family summer picnic back in 1875. My ancestors have not disappointed me in further surprises ever since. The hunt is on! Having the navigation bar on what looks like the facing page is a clever idea. However, I have spotted what look like a couple of typos. Joan was born in Wallaceburg, Ontario, where he finally retired and died. and Joan and Catherine lived in Toronto for some time while he ran the local island ferry. Unless I am mistaken, these should be John, not Joan. June Willing
