I agree that photos need to be preserved and shared. A couple of years ago I scanned every photo I could find that my Mum had, and it was quite scary how many weren't named or dated - if we couldn't remember them ourselves, then that bit of history was lost. As far as the ONS goes, I've been thinking about setting up some kind of online photo gallery for both people and significant places. I'm familiar with the likes of flickr, though haven't used it for years. Does anyone have any ideas of ways to set up a mugs gallery online? Preferably free, and it would require being able to clearly identify photo subjects (preferably in an obvious title) and put a small description, as well as perhaps being able to group or sort them (eg by time, or by family group) and to allow administrator privileges to several people. I don't think it particularly needs to have any kind of guestbook facility. Currently I'm putting up photos on facebook, but its hard to sort through them and see exactly what is there.
