I have a number of adult baptisms when a family moved to a Suffolk parish to a Norfolk parish. They are recorded as being baptised privately or in the parish church Wroxham, Norfolk between 1777 and 1799. They are later recorded as being baptised & admitted to the congregation of St Margaret, Wattisfield in 1802. I t is noted in the register 'all baptized after birth'. I have frequently found that merchant seamen & military families often wait for the father to return so the baptisms can be several months or even years after the births. In our own family my mother was Unitarian and baptised & confirmed into the Anglican Church at the time of her marriage to my father who was C of E. This was in 1940. One of my brothers was baptised at home owing to poor health at the time of his birth in 1950. So there may be all kinds of baptism records! It is fortunate when the vicar records both the birth & baptism dates. Lauretta Harris 3434
