I'm just transcribing an 1831 will, and once again have come across the word "assig?s" (eg "heirs and assig-s") and can't quite decide if its assigus or assigns. Googling comes up with some discussions on rootsweb, most of which appear to lean towards it being "assigns", but I'm not so sure. Can anyone clear this up for me? My schoolgirl latin just isn't good enough (and far too distant) to understand if its a latin legal term. Corinne Curtis #5579
