Thanks so much for the information Peter and thanks to all those who served this year on the Committee. To those Committee members who are standing down - a huge thank you for standing up over the past years and for putting the Guild's needs ahead of you own (I am sure many of you have not been able to work on your own ONS as much as you would have liked). We have come a far distance in the past 10 months - our Guild Website is really coming along and I finally got my Profile up due to how easy it now is to post/update. I have added some surnames of interest and think that is a terrific feature and hope others will take advantage of it. I appreciate those who keep us informed whether through the Forum, our various social media (Facebook, Google+ and Twitter), and the News at the Website. The seminars and hangouts that have been broadcast and recorded (archived at our YouTube channel) are a real benefit to distance members. The Journal continues to be a "must read" and I learn so much from those who share how they do their studies. The 12 Days of Christmas posts were fun and it was interesting to see all those surnames that fit the theme. I realize that so much goes on behind the scenes that most of us remain blissfully unaware of as we work on our studies AND some of you devote a tremendous amount of time and effort to the Guild. Thanks and here's hoping that some Guild members choose to stand up and run for Committee to work with any returning Committee members. The only way the Guild continues to operate as a center for excellence is if our volunteer members are willing to stand for Committee (or accept postholder positions) and work as part of team to build up the Guild. This is a wonderful group to be part of and it improves each time any of us do our part. Hear, hear! I also thought the 12 Days of Christmas was a good laugh and kept waiting for my name to appear. But I knew there just wasn't any way you could fit my DATE name in to it! As a long shot, you could say there were 12 DATES of Christmas! [smile] We do have quite a range of interesting names in the Guild. Getting my profile up and going is one of my goals this year, especially after reading posts from others on the Forum. I've just read the TEAR page, and that looks really good, and seeing what others do encourages those of us who have not done their own. I agree, Tessa. This is a wonderful group to belong to and I'm very pleased I joined. Well I for one like DATEs at Christmas; my parents always used to buy a box and I continue the tradition! If I could add just one further point to what Peter and Tessa have said: as long as you have a good broadband connection, phyical distance is no bar to being a committee member. The timing of meetings (11am to say 3pm on a Saturday, UK time) might make it tricky to be present for the whole meeting but you never know what you can do until you try! Paul, I like your tradition and might just have to start doing that myself! When I was growing up we always had DATES - the boxed sort - at Christmas, too. I must revive the tradition!
