Yes, I pointed out that a reader's ticket is required, and they do need to satisfy themselves (owing to pressure on the library) that it's for serious research purposes. And you have to visit reader registration personally at St Pancras. But I've had a BL reader's ticket for many years, and only heard about this particular archive today. Especially for African papers (South Africa, Zimbabwe, the Portuguese territories, East Africa, etc) and for papers in Central and South America, it's a wonderful resource.
