When looking for the reason why John Thomas Rivers Mason b.1848 had Rivers I found a neighbour in the census in the same road. No one else had 3 forenames. Was he a friend or God parent? I have not found baptisms for any of the family. Cheers Jo
I would also look at prominent individuals in the area. One of my group that carried Peploe as a middle name seems to have had a mother that was unsure of his parentage. So he was baptised with her husband's surname and got her employers name as a middle name. She was right to question - his descendent Y-DNA tests as a Peploe not the husband's brand of markers Marie (GOONS 5318) Bringing the world together one surname at a time.
