    3. OK - and I had thought I had finished with his branch. However, I had looked at it over ten years ago and was not as rigorous then. It turns out that it is a case of inter-related families. Thomas LAKE (1825-1891) - Ann ? - William Wreford LAKE (1823-1875) - Louisa Richards - - Mary Tracy LAKE (1865-1942) m Philip Fulford KELLY (1863-1946) (son of William Wreford KELLY (1834-1909) and Sarah Jane FULFORD (1831-1922)) - - - Abiezer Wreford Rowe KELLY (1896-1986) - - - - Philip Fulford KELLY - - - - Mary Blanche KELLY - - - - - Christopher Wreford GRAY - - - Blanche Tracey KELLY (1898-1958) - - nine siblings - Jane Tracy LAKE (1825-1891) - Abiezer ROWE (1813-1897) - Thomas Rowe LAKE (1827- 1865) - Henry Fulford LAKE (1830-1873) So - my Wreford has come down from William Wreford LAKE and probably before since it is also used by William's son-in-law's father. My Uncle's Fulford has come down from Sarah Jane Fulford. Tracey is another name that could be said to have come down the generations. My Grandfather's ROWE has come down from his great Uncle but is also used by Thomas Rowe LAKE and so there is far more in that name to come. However, he would seem to have chosen to use it has a second surname at some times. I do have some fun ahead of me as I try and link these forenames. My mother's father lived in the area and I was comfortable with my knowledge of him. He was Abiezer Wreford Rowe Kelly - born on 9th March 1896 in Lewisham (London). He married my Grandmother on 11th October 1922, but they divorced and he married Doris May Biden (Registered Surrey ME, Mar 1950). So far so good. All was well until someone on the Facebook site pointed out that xxx. Ummm. I understood that Doris had been the Lady Captain of the Epsom Golf Club but had found no confirmation. Someone else on the Facebook site identified a record which showed her as D.M. Rowe-Kelly. So I decided to look further. Going back to his name - the birth certificate says "Birth of Abiezer Wreford Kelly - son of Philip Fulford Kelly (Master Coach Builder) and Mary Tracey Kelly formerly Lake". I have both the Kelly and Lake families going way back - no mention of Rowe. His death certificate says death of "Abiezer Wreford Rowe Kelly on 6th January 1986, born 9th March 1896 in Devon ..." I had previously identified the marriage in FreeBMD - Marriage of Abiezer W R Kelly and Doris M Biden, Surrey Mid E 5g 418, Mar 1950 - with a duplicate entry showing her surname as Pym - indicating that she had two surnames. Sure enough, I had found her previous marriage - Marriage of Wilfred C Pym and Doris M Biden, Epsom 2a 33, Sep 1919. No mention of Rowe other than the initial R. My Mother's birth certificate says "Birth of Mary ... Kelly - daughter of Abiezer Wreford Rowe Kelly (Civil Servant - Post Office Engineering department) and Jane Esther Kelly formerly Lockyer." So Rowe has appeared - but from where? [I have not obtained her brother's birth certificate.] His entry on the WW1 medal roll was in the name of "KELLY Wreford" - though I am not 100% sure I have the right person - though do know he was in the Royal Field Artillery (photographs of him in his uniform). I can't find his service record. So - no help on those names. Doris' death is registered - Doris May Rowe Kelly, born 25 Dec 1899, Gipping and Hartismere 10 2577, Apr 1990. She is buried with my grandfather. The "find a grave" entry shows her as Doris May Kelly, born 25 Dec 1899 in Redruth (Cornwall), died 13 Apr 1990 in Old Newton (Suffolk) and spouse Abiezer Wreford R Kelly (1896-1986). So - where does the Rowe come from? Any ideas people? By the way - what I have found to date is on my web-site (http://www.gray-ons.org/secondsite/g0/p37.htm). By the way - there was a Doris May Rowe born in Cornwall in 1899, but she married a Percival G Allen in Highland Park, Wayne, Michigan, USA and so I have placed her on the back burner - being comfortable on the Biden.
