I wonder if anyone is going to the Keep (East Sussex Record Office) at some time (there is no hurry) they could do me a great favour and check a marriage entry in the Rye register for 1805. FMP and Family Search (ex IGI ?) have William Cavie m Jane Bradbourn 25 August 1805. However many years ago I purchased the Sussex MI entries for Cavie etc and that gives Thomas Cavie as the groom and Jane Bradbourne as the bride. I have always believed the SMI rather than IGI but have never had the opportunity to check the original which is not on FMP or Ancestry. Any help would be greatly appreciated as correspondents tell me I have it wrong but none having seen the original. Many thanks. Colin Stevenson (Cavie & Monnington)

A thought has come to me that maybe one set was transcribed from the parish register and another from the BTs. There are occasional differences and it is not always clear from transcripts which has been used. Perhaps you should ask for both to be checked? From Merryl Wells of Luton, Beds.
