I want to thank all of you for your help and suggestions. Sue Eden found a newspaper article that placed the death of Thomas Owston as occurring on November 20, 1877. This is what I needed. We were attempting to determine if there was a definite paternity issue with one of his children as his wife gave birth twice several years after his death and both sons carried the Owston surname. We are chasing an non-paternity event in this line and wondered if there was evidence that it occurred during one of the older son's births. Since his father was living by the time the boy was born, we cannot ascertain whether this NPE occurred in this generation or not. There is another possibility in the next generation. Further autosomal testing may narrow the answer. Jim Jim -- Jim James M. Owston, EdD Owston One-Name Study #5647 [email protected] http://www.one-name.org/cgi-bin/search.cgi?find=5647
