    3. Yes indeed, but the certificate I am having problems with doesn't show any names beyond her maiden name (which does not appear in 1939 as she married in 1938) and that of her last husband, and this (her 5th or 6th) persumably appears in a Continuation Book.. The one I had success with did show most of them, plus as she was only a young child she was listed under her maiden name (which to make things more interesting wasn't her birth name! So after looking since 1999, I now know that and have ordered the birth certificate.... But I have seen records saying "see Book X p2" where the X is a Roman numeral, rather than just "See p 2", which I take to be the Continuation series.... I have tried the clicking through etc and the "see page" doesnt fit with the book the original note is in. My family member is with her husband, so i would love to know what the note was. As to the problem you are having, I would have thought certificates showing a change of name in a continuous chain "should" be enough (I do hate the word should sometimes) Nikki ----- Original Message ----- From: "Polly Rubery via" <[email protected]> To: "Jean Normington" <[email protected]>, [email protected] Sent: Saturday, 9 April, 2016 5:59:53 PM Subject: Re: [G] 1939 Register There are no pages with just "NHS notes" on them, if it is a continuation page, to begin with they were on spare pages of the original Enumeration Books, and so the name will be in the index twice - once for each page. But I think that there were later "just" continuation books which haven't been filmed at all. I seem to be having a problem with this at the moment as I recently applied for a redacted record to be opened and sent off the death certificate in the prescribed manner. The trouble is the death certificate only gave the lady's maiden name and that of her last husband (she had five or six!) and by 1939 she was already married to the first . So they siad they couldn't open the page because the names didn't match.... I'm going to try again and send them her first marriage certificate which also has the two people that she is living with (her mother and grandmother) as witnesses. Does anyone else have any other ideas about how I can pursuade them to do this? But they did open the record of her daughter, luckily "most" of her previous surnames had been shown on her death certificate......but only the first is given on the page - and the maiden names matched.... When there is a note "see page 22" and the person has a line crossed through them, how do you navigate to page 22? thanks Jean -- Jean Normington Boughton ONS Guild member 4342 _____________________________________________ RootsWeb lists - surnames, regions, software, etc: http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/ ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message -- Nikki Brown #6552 Pullum ONS https://pullumons.wordpress.com
