Since changing my primary mail provider last year, I am no longer able to send mail from my one-name.org addresses (though of course I can receive mail sent to elston@one-name.org and mike.elston@one-name.org, since they’re forwarded to my own email address). My previous ISP, until they discontinued their mail service last year, offered an unauthenticated service, which meant as long as my mail client signed on correctly, I could send mail using any ‘from’ address I chose. My new mail provider offers authenticated SMTP, which means it will only accept mail sent from my own domain. I have a couple of gmail addresses, but if I try to send mail through Google’s SMTP server, it silently changes the ‘from’ address to the gmail address. I’ve seen the comments by the Guild Chairman in his recent newsletter, and I’m aware of the debate about Yahoo’s change in mail policy. Can anyone recommend a free SMTP server which will allow me to register my onename.org email addresses and accept and forward mail sent from those addresses? TIA, /mike -- Mike Elston Email: mike.elston@one-name.org Elston/Elstone One Name Study http://one-name.org
Mike (only), This is sent from my Gmail account - toll.study@gmail.com - using double authentication to set it up. It should appear as ken.toll@one-name.org ...Unless your email client is very clever and finds & displays the true from address. It works most of the time.
