A very useful and surprising collection. I am not up to speed on identity theft/privacy issues and I was surprised to find my 23 year old Texan granddaughter listed with addresses and phone numbers. What a contrast with the UK 1939 census where we are only allowed to see dead people etc. John 2172 On 29 March 2017 at 22:48, Gene Prescott <prescottg@gmail.com> wrote: > Has info on my son who died in 2009. Thank you Liz and Jenni In the case of my Appleby, I don't think he was ill as he joined up in the services not long after his return to England, and when he first emigrated (to Canada, not the USA) in 1913, his fare was paid by a relative, not the government. I do know that three months before he sailed back to England, a young unmarried woman with a baby returned to England - and both Appleby and this young lady gave the identical 'intended place of residence' in the UK. She was also deported! I am trying to discover if there was a connection between these two - and if it had anything to do with both being deported, but I haven't been able to discover what circumstances resulted in Deportation and whether the records relating to such decisions are accessible. My thanks to all who responded to this question on or off the Forum. For further information, many lip readers are professionals who work for the Police or TV companies (to read football managers words on the touchline etc.) so the fees are rather forbidding for a 10 second clip. I have a few leads and offers to follow up. Best...
