    3. On 17 Mar 2002 Rick Nettesheim posted the following in the Goodrich Surname board at Ancestory.com E-mail sent to listed address below bounced. "I'm a direct descendant of the Goodrich line & trying to trace this line as far back as I can but have run into a few questions I was hoping anyone could help me with. I have found 2 different versions of "the same" line, neither of which states their source information, so I don't know which is correct. I was hoping someone might know, and or have even more information they would be willing to share. Anyways, here's what I've found: 1. My g-g-g-g-grandfather was Josiah L. Goodrich (b. 9 Jun 1813, m. Orinda Mattoon) 2. His father was Josiah Goodrich (b. 2 Sep 1789, m. Hepsibath Lovewell) 3. His father was David Goodrich (b. 8 May 1748, m .Rebella Simonds) 4. His father was Josiah Goodrich (b. 22 Aug 1717, m. Grace Grant on 7 Nov 1739) 5. His father was Josiah Goodrich (b. 15 Jun 1690, m. Sarah Porter on 5 Dec 1711) 6. His father was David Goodrich (b. 4 May 1667, m. Hannah Wright on 7 Mar 1689) 7. His father was William Ephram Goodrich (b. 13 Feb 1621, m. Sarah Marvin on 4 Oct 1648) Here is where the info gets a bit muddled. One line continues on as follows: 8a. His father was Richard Goodrich (of Ribston - High Sheriff of Yorkshire from 1580-1592, m. Muriel Evans) 9a. His father was Richard Goodrich (b. 1510, m. Clara Conyers) 10a. His father was Henry Goodrich (b. 1487, m. Margaret Rawson in 1508) 11a. His father was Edward Goodrich (baronet, m. Jane Williamson in about 1465) 12a. His father was John Goodrich On the other hand, the Ancestral File at familysearch.org gives the remainder of the line as follows: 8b. His father was John Goodrich (b. 1587, m. Margerie Howe on 7 Aug 1615) 9b. His father was William Goodrich (b. 1555, m. Margaret Richardson on 24 Oct 1568) 10b. His father was Richard Goodrich (b. about 1520, m. ?? about 1524) Does anyone know of any source information indicating which one is correct? If not, could you refer me to someone who might? The jump from 7 - 9a is 90 years and although this is possible, it seems unlikely. I'm wondering if 8b - 10b is filling in the apparent gap between 7 - 9a. Any thoughts? I'm also looking for as many descendant of this line as possible. If anyone happens to have any of this kind of information and would be willing to share, I'd be most appreciative. Finally, on the message board, I've seen a book called "The Goodrich Family" mentioned a few times. Would anyone happen to know where I might get a copy of this book? Thanks for your help. Sincerely, Rick Nettesheim (netty@bigfoot.com)" Rick, I was wondering if you ever sorted this out? I too am a direct descendant of this line. My G-G-Grandfather was Josiah Goodrich (b. 2 Sep 1789, m. Hepsibath Lovewell) My G-Grandfather was Ezekiel Simonds Goodrich, brother of your Josiah L., (b. 23 October 1818, m. Lucinda Goodrich 30 December 1852 in Wisconsin) They were 1st cousins once removed. Also I happen to have a copy of the Goodrich Family in America by L.W. Case and I would be happy to do lookups for you. I can also give you a better picture of the line between myself and Josiah if you would like. Any info you can pass on would be greatly appreciated. I hope this e-mail finds you and yours well. Sincerely, Matthew Goodrich
