Hi everyone! Tonight I would like to break with tradition and intitiate a Roll Call. Normally I don't like doing these on larger lists, but in this case, it might be a good idea to try. We have a list membership of 120 people. Among those, surely we have some undiscovered relatives. :-) Here's how we'll do this particular Roll Call. List one name per e-mail or one couple or family per e-mail. Please do not list three to four generations. That gets a little hard to follow especially for those in plain text Digest Mode. Remember to place the name you're researching in the Subject line of your e-mail. That will make it easier for those that browse their list mail. Also mention any ancestor you're having a difficult time finding. Maybe the answer lies among the membership of this list. Its always nice to crumble a brick wall or two. :-) Please be brief in your list queries. Happy hunting! Rick B List Administrator
Any information is welcome Hannah Goodrich - B: 17 May 1799 Walton, Delaware Co, NY D: 13 Sep 1881 Buena Vista, Portage Co, WI M: 22 June 1817 Walton, Delaware Co., NY TO: Joseph Ainsworth Her War of 1812 widow pension papers state marriage information is not available, her parents names were not given.
you might also post the names of her children, if you know them; I have Goodriches who moved from CT to NY ... my lot descend from Abraham Goodrich 1715-1762 m. Hannah Collins 1717-1773 through their son Roswell 1757-1847 m. Jane Wilson 1754 - 1831 and their son James 1791 - 1855 you might investigate Roswell's brother Hosea b. 1758 who married Elizabeth Waterman (no further info) (Roswell had a daughter Hannah 1787 - bef 1860, who married Elijah Eaton; they were in Deerfield NY when they died; that Hannah might be cousin to yours) far as I know, there were only the two brothers, but I could have incomplete information ... good luck, Candy > Any information is welcome > > Hannah Goodrich - B: 17 May 1799 > Walton, Delaware Co, NY > D: 13 Sep 1881 Buena Vista, > Portage Co, WI > M: 22 June 1817 > Walton, Delaware Co., NY > TO: Joseph Ainsworth > > Her War of 1812 widow pension papers state marriage information is not > available, her parents names were not given. > > >
Have you looked at the Philo Goodrich family in Delaware County? I'm pretty sure that was where I saw Philo -- he was not my line; but you might try to look at it from the top down. THOMAS GOODRICH b. circa 1803, who married REBECCA CALLISON of VA, is my brick wall. They appear in VA, KY, and MO in Lafayette, Boone & Johnson Counties. I'd like to find a marriage document or birth doc for THOMAS whose death certificate is also missing but who is listed on other death certificates as being "of KY". If that is true, how did he meet his "VA" bride whose family is well documented in VA? If I could discover who his siblings were I'd know how to proceed. Thanks for calling the roll! The 1889 book of GOODRICH FAMILY IN AMERICA on page 362 shows: #3981 ABIGAIL BORN, Nov. 28, 1756 AND MARRIED JOSEPH SMITH ON NOV.11, 1783.............Abigail's father was: JOSHUA GOODRIDGE born Feb.7, 1708 and married Lydia, daughter of John Stearns, born Oct.7,1719. resided in Lunenburg, Mass. Known children: Betsy, born in Leominster, MA 3 May 1784 Thomas born Leominster, MA 10 Jan 1786 Lucinda, born in Leominster, MA 19 Apr 1788 Polley, born at Leominster,MA 27 May 1792 Lucinda died in Leominster 9 May 1840, a spinster, and was buried at Pine Grove Cemetery. This is all of the information that I have on this family. I am trying to discover if there might have been another son, Joseph, born into this family abt 1785. My great-great grandfather was Joseph Smith, 2nd of Leominster, MA. I have been trying for 15 years to find a record of his birth and who his parents were. This family is the best possibility that I have been able to come up with, but cannot find any proof. Thank you. Dick Smith Burnet, TX
My great-grandfather was Charles Edwin Goodrich, b. 1847 in Hartland, McHenry Co, IL as 2nd son to Charles W. and Electa Burke Goodrich. (Case only lists the first son George N.) He enlisted in the Civil War from NY, later moving to NYC, Jersey City NJ, and Brooklyn NY. His occupation was flour futures, or flour salesman. He was married in 1879 to Annie Lewis Thompson and had 5 daughters--the middle one was my grandmother. After 1893 he disappeared leaving huge gambling debts and his wife & children never knew what happened to him. His mother stated in 1900 that she had 5 children with only 2 living (2 daughters who are well-documented). The family thought he was either dead or escaped to Canada. His sister, Charlotte Goodrich Howard, living near Rochester, NY, always kept in touch with his family. I would dearly love to know what happened to him. He was only 53 in 1900 so could have started a whole new family, perhaps with a new name. Pam
