I found a Thomas Stepp in Fentress Co. TN in 1900 whose age and place of birth are difficult to read. His wife is Hatty or Katty and their youngest daughter, born April 1900 is name Parlee. Thomas' father was born in Germany and his mother in Tennessee. I had a great grandmother named Paralee who went by the name of Parly or Pearly which caused all kinds of wrong versions of her name in records. I can see how you could get Pearl from that name too. I could only find 3 people born in MO in the 1900 census with the spelling Steppe and none had a daughter with a name Pearl or near Pearl in spelling. That is for sure. Sylvia May Totten (Marsh) or to us it was always Grandma Marsh. Some one sent an email of Martha Tressa Martin, I think if I remember right was grandma to Syliva, and Sylvia is a spit'in image of her g'ma. I have found it is so hard to find information on Frank Totten, was he a miner in the lead mines around Joplin, MO.? Was he killed in a mine accident? Who were his parents? It seems like Clyde and his brother Cecil don't remember much about Elsie & Frank Totten. They still have an uncle Ernest Marsh still alive and lives in Vallejo, CA. and this summer had his 90th bday. He has an aunt still living, 75 and lives in Lawerence, KS. That is Goldie Elsie Marsh(Flanders)and she does'nt seem to care abt family history. Any thing you have on Totten's, Johns, Martin's I would appreciate so very much. Look forward to hearing back. You would need to order cards. Among the Tottens who registered was a Frank Totten, age 34. I can send you a zip file of the whole index.
