Back in 09 I had left a post for Goodnight family. You answered the post and I don't remember what happened[health issues I'm sure] but I found it today. Please forgive me. Where do I fit you ask, well my husband of 60 years is a descendant of Susanna Goodnight married Joseph Johns, in ABT 1825 in Giles Co., TN. Their #5 child was a son, John Johns b 1833 in Union Co., IL. He married Martha Tressia Martin. Now, Susanna Goodnight was the d/o John Henry Goodnight b 1779 & Mary Margaret Condor. John Henry was the s/o Henry Goodnight & Elizabeth Chisholm. Does any of this fit your findings? My husband is the gt gt grandson of Susanna Goodnight & Joseph Johns. Personally, I highly respect his comments, findings of any reports he has written. I believe he is a descendant.He writes;Henry served in the Continual Army in North Carolina Continental line in the light Horse Brigade under Captain Pfeifer. There is so much history of the Chisholm family I find to be interesting. John Chisholm was the father of Elizabeth Chisholm Goodnight. He was a man who worked closely with the Indians, ran a trading post for them I believe. There seems to be a lot of controversy over this family. You might want to check the Dawes Rolls to find if Elizabeth is listed on that. My husband is a descendant as well as former president Harry S Truman a descendant of the Goodnight family. [the reason I say I think, is because this family has Henry's, John Henry, it is so hard for me to sort out] But this record shows Elizabeth Chisholm was his wife. b ABT 1754. Are you familiar with the Chisholm family ? I've not had the experience to research fast, even though I've been working on genealogy for 40 years. I am thinking Elizabeth was a d/o John Chisholm & a Cherokee wife, if this is true it will take us down a whole new road.
