Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/AUZ.2ACEB/747 Message Board Post: Anicia Bueno Gonzalez Funeral Mass for Anicia Bueno Gonzalez, 86, of Decatur will be Saturday, July 23, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at Annunciation of the Lord Catholic Church with Father Joseph Culotta officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be this evening from 5 to 7:30 with a Rosary at 5:30 at the church. Mrs. Gonzalez, who died Wednesday, July 20, 2005, at Decatur Health and Rehabilitation, was born Dec. 30, 1918, in Cascorro, Cuba, to Orfilo Bueno and Maria Brigida Bueno-Aguero. She fled from Castro in June 1962 seeking freedom and became an American citizen in 1974. She was a homemaker and taught Spanish at Priceville and West Morgan high schools. Mrs. Gonzalez was a member of AARP, the 50+ Club at St. Ann Church and was a volunteer for the Committee on Church Cooperation. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tomas Mariano Gonzalez; one son, Tomas Agustin Gonzalez; and one granddaughter, Cheree Gonzalez. Survivors include one daughter, Ada G. Garland of Decatur; and three grandchildren, Tomas A. Gonzalez of Rockford, Ala., and Bradley L. Garland and Mollie Garland, both of Atlanta, Ga. Pallbearers will be Tomas A. Gonzalez, Bradley Garland, Robert Peraza, Mike Gleason, Pedro Carulo and John Gleason. Memorials may be made to St. Ann’s School Education Foundation. Published in the Decatur Daily on 7/22/2005.
