Estefana was born April 17, 1918 in Ciudad Mier, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She later moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, where, at the age of 14, she met her future sweetheart and husband Jose R. Gonzalez. Estefana and Jose were married the year 1939 in Tamaulipas, Mexico. They lived in Edingburg, Texas until 1953 when they moved their family to Washington State. She was employed at Chef Reddy Foods in Othello, after 16 years of service she retired. Estefana and Jose celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1989; the year of Jose's passing. She was preceded in death by her father & mother, one sister and three brothers, her husband Jose and sons Jose and Joel. Estefana is survived by sisters: Elena Reese, Jovita Maldonado; daughter: Alicia G. Medel; grandchildren: Alicia (Cesario), Jorge (Angie), Araceli (Jason), Conchita, Marisol (Daniel), Avi (Nyko), Junior, Moises, Hector, Joel, Jose, Mirna, Edith, Yadira, Edelma and 15 great-grandchildren. "Grandma Fane" as known by her family will be greatly missed but always remembered for her traditional beliefs and her open heart. Holy Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. Thursday, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Moses Lake. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, with Father Jesus Ramirez as celebrant. Interment will follow in Bess Hampton Memorial Gardens in Othello. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel & Crematory, Moses Lake. Viewing will take place at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Mrs. Gonzalez was a practical nurse for McMahon Children’s Shelter in New York City, retiring in 1976. She came to Longmont in 1989 from New York. She was preceded in death by her husband July 17, 1991; three brothers; and two sisters. Elbert A. Fadallan, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Calvillo Funeral Home of Lubbock. Rosary will be recited at Lemons Funeral Home Chapel today at 7 p.m. Mr. Gonzalez died Saturday, Nov. 2, 1996, in Methodist Hospital. He was born May 1, 1932, in Muzquiz, Coahuila, Mexico. He moved to Amherst in 1975 from Friona and was a farmer and a Catholic. He married Cecilia Godina on Dec. 30, 1956, in Muzquiz.
