She was a member of a pioneer family that settled in Wagon Mound many years ago. She was very active in her community and her church and was known for her TV commercial she made on behalf of senior citizens' health concerns. She was preceded in death by her parents, Teodoro Gonzales and Bersabe Romero; her husband, Jose Meliquias Valdez; and one daughter, Emma Valdez. She is survived by her son, George Valdez of Wagon Mound, and family; sons, Ryan, Nick, and Albert; daughters, Annabell V. Martinez and husband Leo J. Martinez and family of Albuquerque, Josie Griffin and husband Frank and family of Denver, Pauline Trujillo and husband Adam and family of Albuquerque, Alice Sanford and husband John and family of Dallas; son, Joe Valdez and wife Nina and family of Wagon Mound, Rudy Valdez and family of Hereford, Texas; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brother! s, Albert Gonzales and Ted Gonzales and wife Carolina of Las Vegas, N.M., and many other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Santa Clara Church in Wagon Mound. Burial will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery. Nelson Funeral Home. DELFINIA MARIA THERESA LEAL VALDEZ, 79, of Las Vegas, N.M. and former resident of Lucero, died Wednesday at her home following an extended illness. She was born in Lucero on Oct. 15, 1923, to the late Braulio Leal and Dolores Medina Leal. She was united in marriage in June 1945 to the late Feliberto Valdez. She was preceded in death by her parents, Braulio and Dolores Medina Leal; husband, Feliberto Valdez; daughter, Nora Montoya; sons, Johnny and Ruben Valdez; sister, Cecilia Medina; brothers, Abenicio Leal, Santiago Leal and Joe Leal; stepsons, Wilfred Valdez and Obed Valdez. She is survived by her daughters, Josie Valdez, and Cilia Romero and husb! and Alex, all of Las Vegas, N.M.; son, Lawrence Valdez and wife Prescilla of Serafina; stepchildren, Fred Valdez and Priscilla Martinez both of Pueblo, Colo., Roy Valdez, and Gloria Estrada and husband Pat all of Denver, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Alex Lopez and wife Carmen of Las Vegas, N.M., Adonilia Manzanares and husband Joe of Las Animas, Colo., Loyda Manzanares and husband Ted of Rainsville, N.M., Odilia Maldonado of Pueblo, Colo., Amalia Rios and husband Albino of Denver, Colo.; and many other relatives and friends. Prayer services will be at 7 p.m. today at the Rogers Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Rogers Chapel. Burial will follow at the Masonic Cemetery. Rogers Mortuary.
