Sad to see this happen to all the Mailing Lists. I'm happy to join Facebook groups but I know that many folks do not wish to do so. The Kent Eng list I belong to has successfully migrated to groups.io and seems to be working well. Lots of members have posted their list of surnames or asked for help. An opportunity to encourage members of this group to post about their ancestors or seek help. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state. Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb. As an alternative to RootsWeb Mailing Lists, Ancestry message boards are a great option to network with others in the genealogy community.
