I am looking for members of my family. My grandfather changed his name from Goldberg to Davies, apparently because Davies was closer to the original, Davidovitch (from Roumania). However, Grandpa was a bit of a storyteller, and after much proding my father tells me he may have changed his name to avoid antisemitism. They moved from New York to Hendersonville, North Carolina when my father, Zachary Marvin (Zulka Meyer) was about 2 years old, probably 1939. He had two brothers, Charles and Irving, and two sisters, Betty (or Bessie) and Sidney. His father's name was Zulka Meyer Davidovitch (probably in the Old County) and Goldberg (changed at Ellis Island.). If anyone has any information about my family, I'd love to correspond! Miri Pardo
