Surnames: GOFF GAWF GOUGH Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/5MZ.2ACEB/1211.1 Message Board Post: As a followup, the GOFF Surname DNA Study has now determined that Henry GOFF (ca. 1809 NC - 1850/60 probably TN) was part of family #2 of the four major GOFF families. This confirms that Henry GOFF was very closely related to Edmund GAWF (1794 NC - ca. 1883 TN) and Lewis GOFF (ca. 1811 NC/SC - 1894 TN). Descendants of all three men have a family tradition that an early ancestor was born a BARLOW, was orphaned and took the surname GOFF/GAWF from the family that raised him. The GOFF Surname DNA Study has proven that Edmund GAWF, Henry GOFF and Lewis GOFF are genetically very closely related to the BARLOW family. We are seeking to expand the number of GOFF (and variants) families in the GOFF Surname DNA Study. We need representation from the New England GOFF families. Please consider joining today.
