To date, we have proven the existence of three major groupings of Goff families, which are unrelated in any genealogically relevant period. These families are: 1. The family of the four Goff brothers of western Virginia, including James Goff (1735-1834), John Turton Goff, Thomas Goff and Salathiel Goff. Three of these brothers remained in what is now WV while Thomas moved to Clark Co., KY. 2. The families of Edmund S. Gawf/Goff (1794 NC/VA - ca1883 TN) and Lewis R. Goff (1811 NC/SC - 1894 TN), which were previously not known to be related have been found to have exact matches in the DNA test. What's more, their family legends about an early ancestor having been born a Barlow and later taking the name Goff has been corroborated by the DNA Study. 3. The latest results show an exact DNA match between the family of Stephen Goff (1743 CT - 1799 NC) and James E. Goff (1805 NC - 1853 IN). In addition, there is indication that the family of John Gough (b. 1805 Northern Ireland) may also be connected to this branch. At this point, we are seeking male participants with an unbroken paternal lineage from the following Goff families: > Thomas Goff (1747 - 1824 KY) of the four Goff brothers of western Virginia > Phillip Goffe (1627 CT - 1674 CT), great-grandfather of Stephen Goff (1743 CT - 1799 CT) >Isham Goff (1809 SC - after 1870 AR) >Any other Goff/Gough who is *unrelated* to the above four men Full results are available at http://home.comcast.net/~philgoff/GoffBook.htm Thanks, Phil Goff
