    3. Dear Jimmy Pletzer: Didn't we meet you in Bryan? And you showed us the Pletzers in the cemetery? Joe Goff Pletzer is the brother of our Sarah Goff who married J.D. Crownover and had only one child that we know of, my grandfather William Dial or Dile Crownover. Joe's parents-and Sarah's and William's and maybe Ada and or Martha- are Rachel Sheffield Goff and Arthur Goff. Rachel and Arthur Goff were dead by the time Sarah and J. D. got married. There were a scrap or two of law suits about the determination of the estate. Apparently Rachel's brother was in charge and Sarah didn't like that. Sarah and J. D. died when grandfather was young. The Pletzers took in Joe Goff and Grandfather William Crownover. They only adopted Joe because Grandpa knew he was a Crownover and didn't want to be a Pletzer. The Goffs are Welch. Earline ---last name can't remember-did extensive work on the Goff's. Jennet Goff was the mother of Arthur and Jesse and a bunch of others. She came to Texas in the l850s from Louisiana and got a land grant on the Big Sandy. We are seeking information on J. D. Crownover line. We know William Crownover visited relatives near the Limestone County area but we don't know who. Perhaps they were Goff and not Crownovers. 3. I was thrilled to find the info on Joe Goff PLETZER & Martha GOFF who married J.D. CROWNOVER. How many children did Arthur GOFF & Rachel have? Arthur GOFF Is the s/o my ggg grandmother Jennet GOFF & J. Andrew GOFF & the brother of my gg grandfather Elijah GOFF. Rachel SHEFFIELD was the daughter of my ggg grandmother Drucilla (?) CARTER & her 2nd husband John Joseph SHEFFIELD, & the half sister to my gg grandmother, Nancy (CARTER) GOFF who married Arthur's brother Elijah GOFF. Arthur GOFF is found in the 1850 census of Polk Co. TX still living with his mother, Jennet (WALKER) GOFF. Rachel SHEFFIELD is in the 1850 census of Sabine Parish LA with the their mother Drucilla (?) CARTER- SHEFFIELD & the rest of her SHEFFIELD children. Arthur & Rachel are in the 1860 census of Walker Co. TX with no children. They married in Cherokee Co. TX where Arthur's brother, Elijah GOFF & his 1st wife, Rachel's half sister, Nancy (CARTER) GOFF lived at that time. Arthur & Rachel are in the 1870 census of Madison Co. TX with 3 children; 1. William H. GOFF (b.c1862 TX)--- 2. Sarah E. GOFF (b.c1865 TX) --- 3. Martha GOFF (b.c1868 TX) I next found Martha (b. c1868 TX) in the 1880 census of Madison Co. TX living with her Uncle John SHEFFIELD, listed as Martha GAUFF. I figured that Arthur & Rachel both died about 1875 in Madison Co. TX. I would truly appreciate any additional info you can give me on this family.
