Surnames: Goff Gough Goffe Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/5MZ.2ACEB/1183 Message Board Post: The Goff Surname DNA Study now includes two major Goff family groupings: 1) Goff family of WV/KY 2) Goff family of TN, coming out of NC or SC The first grouping includes descendants of James Goff (1735-1834 VA), John Turton Goff (d 1803 VA), Thomas Goff (1747-1824 KY) and Salathiel Goff (c1748-1791 VA). We now have five matching results covering all but the Thomas Goff line. These results have led to a potential breakthrough in discovering the origins of the four Goff brothers. Goff, James Henry Goff and Edmund Gawf, who first appeared in the 1830 census of Henderson Co, TN, all living close together. These men claimed in census records to have been born in NC or SC.
