He was born in about 1808 in the County of Louth, Ireland. Came to Wyoming County, New York in 1828. Finally settled in the town of New Berlin in Waukesha County, Wisconsin in 1840. He married Mary Lougney and they had four children - Matthew, Eliza, Mary (Kelly) and Teressa (Shields).
