    1. [GOFF] Re: Goff Family Web site
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Goff Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/5MZ.2ACEB/959.3.2 Message Board Post: I would possibly be interested in a web site which included the Goff from Bedford County. I am a descendant of Andrew Goff of Williamson County, Tennessee. He is supposed to have served during the Revolution. The only Andrew Goff in John Gwathney's HISTORICAL REGISTER OF VIRGINIANS IN THE REVOLUTION, published in 1938, is an Andrew Goff who served in Capt. Adam Clement's Company which marched from Bedford County, Virginia to assist General Greene in South Carolina in May 1781. On the other hand, Louise Lynch says that Andrew Goff was at Point Pleasant in 1774 and an Ensign under Col. Wm Campbell at King's Mtn. I have looked into the Will for Andrew Goof SR who died in 1831 and the Estate Settlement of Andrew Goff Jr/Sr ( looks like both, a wrtie-over ) who died in 1827. Purchasers of items from the estate include Andrew Goff Sr, and Andrew Goff Jr. Louise Gillespie Lynch in "Our Valiant Men," does not list a son of Andrew Sr. named Andrew and Andrew does not mention one in his will but then he doesn't mention Mary or Sally (I think) either. I hope to discuss this further with other researchers.
