I am descended from the Jesse Goff who disappeared with the Calvert woman and abandoned his children. His son Andrew was my grandfathers father. So it went Andrew, Jesse, Andrew, Robert and then my mother and then myself. Thank you for the info on Andrew Jackson Goff. What I need someone to explain to me is why everyone has Andrew Goffs date of death as 1850 instead of 1849? Also where did the name JAMES Andrew come from? Thanks for your help. ANDREW GOFF (1783 VA--1850 TX) is buried on the GOFF farm in/near Moscow, Polk Co. TX, along with many others. There is no visible signs of this cemetery existing. JENNET (WALKER) GOFF sold the farm & moved to Walker Co. TX. She is in the 1860 census of Walker Co. TX, living with her daughter & son-in-law. She died there & her burial place is unknown. I have the sale papers for her farm in Polk Co. TX. The birth & death dates for Andrew & Jennet were copied from a Bible of Martha Ann GOFF by Idell (Knox) Erlanson who died in 1911, at almost 100. Idell is the one who found the GOFF farm & burial place in the 1940's. The old gentleman who showed it to Idell said that every time they plowed or cut a tree, human bones came up in this one area. I haven't had time to follow the one that wound up in La. yet, but the Andrew who married Anne Cooker, so far to me, has never been shown as anything but Andrew, and where in the world did all this James Andrew, on either men, come from is well beyond me. I see you still show Andrew's death as 9-50 instead of 49. Why? Do you think the Polk county website's note on this subject incorrect ? I know you don't think that he was married at 11 to Anne Cooker. We discussed this before. Where did this business of James Andrew come from? Have you ever seen anything to make you think Andrew was James Andrew ?? Thanks for the information. Regards Norma Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. He is in the 1830 census of Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana as: ANDREW GAUFF. ANDREW GOFF is in the 1850 Mortality Census of Moscow, Polk Co., TX. In the Nov 1850 census of Moscow, Polk Co., Texas JENNET (WALKER) GOFF is listed as a widow living with several of her children & her mother, BARBARA WALKER. My Ancestry.com tree is GOFF and ALLIED FAMILIES. ANDREW JACKSON GOFF (b. c1804) is NOT the same GOFF. ANDREW J. GOFF is in the 1840 census of Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana. He is in the 1850 census of Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana with his wife, SARAH GEBREATH PINKSTON. ANDREW J. GOFF & SARAH G. PINKSTON married on 09 Oct 1824 at Daviess Co. Kentucky. In the 1860 census, Andrew J. GOFF & Sarah G. PINKSTON are in the 1860 census of Saint Landry's Parish, Louisiana. I did not locate them after that. The Andrew that married Anne Cooker, I have only seen as Andrew, not J., not James, NO name but Andrew. Like you said NO hard proof...that's what I love, documented work.. The people who put the Jenet Walker to this one then post their so called data is disgusting. Sorry to vent on this but these people irk me as most of them don't know what research is except to copy info from a public tree. Another reason I don't make mine public. The DNA testing and study info can be found at http://www.goff-gough.com/ This ia a Y-DNA, male to male and the more that do the more chance you can find other clan members. Even if you have done testing for Y_DNA and not done thru this site, you can still send Phil Goff the results and he will enter that into the study. I am looking for someone that has HARD CORE DOCUMENTED proof that the fore mentioned Andrew & James Andrew are one and the same.
