She married Grand Smith. Grant and Artie were married in Oklahoma Indian Territory in 1904. They had a son; John Smith. Artie and a daughter died in childbirth in 1906. I have a picture of them (Grant and Artie) taken in Hannah, OK. I would like to know if anyone has any information on Artie. In the 1860 census for Plant Twp, Pulaski Co, AR, Jesse C. is listed with his parents, William & Malisa A. Goff, and siblings Sarah E., Robert C, & Mary M. Pat, I not only know of James Goff, I am descended from him and have held in my hands the original of the Augustine Friend deed, which includes Augustine Friend's signature. Roy Lockhart and I co-wrote The Four Goff Brothers of Western Virginia, which includes a drawing of the placement of the 55-acre tract on a map. I am a descendant of James L. Gough (Goff) through his son Elijah D. Gough. I don't have much information on him, but did find him on the 1840 Monongalia, WV census. He was the son of Thomas Gough and Rachel Burns (Gough) and was married to Elizabeth DeMoss, daughter of Frances Snider and James DeMoss. The origins of Elizabeth Welsh as the wife of John Turton Goff are explored on p. 122 of the book, The Four Goff Brothers of Western Virginia, which Roy Lockhart and I researched and wrote. The conclusion in the book is that Elizabeth's "existence is in doubt." Most likely all of John Turton Goff's were by his wife Monica Carrico. Every known document created during the lifetime of John Turton Goff and which related to John Turton Goff was examined in producing this book. If anyone knows of a document created during the lifetimes of John Turton Goff or Elizabeth Welsh that refers to Elizabeth Welsh, I am interested.
