Augustus is my great-grandfather. My grandfather was Clarence and my dad was his son Robert Loyd. They called him Gus from what I've heard and I guess he was quite a character. Either he or Minnie were eastern band Cherokee which explains why there are no records for his parents. Rennie raised my dad and his siblings during the Great Depression. John and Tom lived in the swamps near New Orleans and Rennie lived in Lafayette Louisiana. Clarence and Lillie divorced in 1934 and he lived in Lumberton MS. Augustus was born in either GA or SC. Goff was a Deputy US Marshall working out of Guthrie, Logan County, Oklahoma. His first wife was named Clara A. (unknown maiden name) and wife number 2 was Laura E. (unknown maiden name). His father's name was W. P. Goff from Fort Worth, Texas. Allen G. Goff died in1924 and is buried in the Summit View Cemetery in Guthrie, Oklahoma. I have started a family tree named Goff Family Tree as I have been unable to connect Allen Goff to any of my husband's Goff ancestors. Thanks for any information. The 1850 for Edgefield shows James E. Goff in the household of John and Elizabeth Goff along with several children (Sarah Goff age 3) and a Mary and Patience Smella. Also in Edgefield was William Vaughn and his wife Patience Smiley. They moved to Scott County, MS by 1860 and are shown there with Patience's sister, Mary Smiley and a Sarah Gaugh (Goff?) age 12 born in SC. I suspect that the Patience Smella in 1850 is my Patience Smiley Vaughn's relative (mother, aunt?) and that the Sarah Gaugh in 1860 is the Sarah A. Goff shown on the 1850. Have your run across anything that may clear this up for me? Do you know when or where John and Elizabeth Goff died?
