When i started looking, I did find a Felix Godin travelling over from the Americas at about the right time, could have been my grandfather, but it didn't fit the family story of Belgium so at the time I discounted it. Frederique is one of my ancester. He and 6 other person fled from the English is Nova Scotia ,Acadia then and ended up in Chaleur Bay in North New Brunswick which is now called Caraquet. I went to a Godin's reunion 2 years or so ago and we were over 750 . The organizers stopped sending invitations as for the fear of lack of places to lodge these people who showed up from all around the world. It was fantastic. I tried a wider search, including http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/index-e.html, but failed to come up with anything. I have found a couple of possible Godins coming over from Canada, but I cannot say if they were relatives or not. I have a family story that dad was interned as a foreign national during the war, which fits with Belgian origins. I may try to follow this aspect up, to see if it provides any leads. As to family, because there does not seem to be a central repository for BMD data in Belgium, without a place of birth I am searching in the dark. Otherwise, I may need to wait for the 1921 census! I found in the New Brunswick Provincial Archives that my 2nd great grandfather was buried in the Cimetiere Des Fonadeurs Tracadie, Gloucester County, NB. His name was Francois-Regis Godin, 1820-1875. His parents were Paul Godin and Marie Anne Comeau. His wife was Dorothee St. Coeur, 1821-1874. I have found references to it online but not any pictures, lists, or information about it.
